Throughout the month of March, staff and pupils at Ysgol Bro Gwaun have been supporting brain tumour awareness month, a national campaign aiming to raise awareness of the affects of a brain tumour across the UK.

A number of activities were organised throughout the month including hat quizzes, an awareness assembly and pupils sold charity wristbands. On Thursday 29th March, staff also took part in ‘Wear a Hat Day’ by wearing an array of hats throughout the school day.

As well as raising awareness within the school, a total of £200 was raised, which will be donated to Pembrokeshire charity the Thorne Mason Trust, who support people in Pembrokeshire affected by a brain tumour or cancer and also work in association with Brain Tumour Research to fund vital days of research.

Teacher Jessie Mason said “Brain tumour research is woefully unfunded so it has been great to get Ysgol Bro Gwaun involved in the campaign, helping to raise brain tumour awareness on a local level and highlight the support that the Thorne Mason Trust can offer to those who need it within the county”.
