Mobile Phone and Smart Devices Agreement
Ysgol Bro Gwaun operates a mobile phone free school day. Pupils may bring a mobile phone to school for travel and safety purposes; however, all mobile phones must be switched off and handed in during morning registration in accordance with school procedures.
Mobile phones, smartwatches, wireless earbuds, headphones connected to a mobile device, and any personal device capable of communication, internet access, audio recording or video recording must not be used, seen, heard or kept on a pupil during the school day. This applies during lessons, between lessons, breaktime and lunchtime.
Pupils must not:
- Use a mobile phone or smart device during the school day.
- Photograph, film or record pupils, staff or visitors without permission.
- Share images, videos or audio recordings involving members of the school community without permission.
- Use personal devices to access social media, messaging services or internet content during the school day.
Any pupil found in possession of a mobile phone during the school day will receive consequences in line with the school’s Behaviour for Learning Policy. Refusal to hand over a device when requested by a member of staff will be treated as a serious breach of school expectations. Devices may be confiscated and parents/carers informed.
Communication During the School Day
If a pupil needs to contact home, they should speak to a member of staff who will assist through the school office. Likewise, parents/carers who need to contact their child urgently should do so through the school office rather than via a personal device.
The school recognises that a small number of pupils may require reasonable adjustments because of medical, safeguarding or Additional Learning Needs (ALN). Any exceptions must be approved and reviewed by the school
Digital Technology Acceptable Use Agreement
Access to the school’s digital systems, devices and network is a privilege that supports learning, creativity and achievement. By using school technology, pupils agree to:
Safe and Responsible Use
- Use school devices, networks and internet access for educational purposes.

- Respect the privacy, safety and rights of others when using technology.
- Use appropriate and respectful language in all digital communication.
- Respect copyright and intellectual property.
- Protect personal information and not share personal details online without permission.
I Will Not:
- Access, create, share or distribute inappropriate, offensive, discriminatory, harmful or illegal content.
- Use technology to bully, harass or upset others.
- Photograph, film, record or share images, videos or audio of other people without permission.
- Attempt to bypass school filtering, monitoring or security systems.
- Damage, interfere with or misuse school technology systems.
- Access another person’s files, account or work without permission.
- Upload or download material that compromises the safety or security of the school network.
Monitoring and Consequences
The school monitors the use of its digital systems to ensure the safety and security of all users. Any misuse of technology may result in restrictions to network access, parental contact, behaviour sanctions and, where necessary, referral to external agencies, including the police.
Parent/Carer Consent
As a parent/carer, I understand that the school takes reasonable steps to promote online safety and responsible use of technology. I will support the school by discussing online safety with my child and encouraging them to use digital technologies responsibly both in and out of school.
