Wythnos Rhyddid Haf 2026

The final week of the summer term saw pupils enjoy a highly successful Freedom Week, a programme of activities designed to recognise and celebrate the achievements, progress and contributions they have made throughout the academic year.

The week provided pupils with a fantastic opportunity to take part in a wide variety of experiences, both within school and beyond, allowing them to develop new skills, strengthen friendships and create lasting memories. Every effort was made to offer a diverse programme, ensuring there was something to appeal to all interests whilst making the most of the wonderful opportunities available within our local community and further afield.

Many pupils enjoyed external trips throughout the week, including Adventure Beyond, where they participated in exciting water sports activities, visits to LC2 Swansea, Folly Farm, Heatherton, and the ever-popular Alton Towers. The week concluded with Gwaun Fest, which brought pupils together to celebrate the end of a successful year.

Alongside these trips, a wide range of engaging activities were available in school. Pupils participated in a variety of sports including football, basketball and rounders, while others enjoyed a beach day, archery sessions and nature walks. Creative opportunities included gardening, cooking workshops, dance workshops, Just Dance, karaoke and Jengid Cymraeg. Pupils also had the chance to challenge themselves through escape rooms, Minecraft activities, Nintendo gaming, film sessions and coursework catch-up opportunities.

A particular highlight was the art experience, where pupils worked together to design and create a collaborative wall mural. This project encouraged creativity, teamwork and self-expression, while also leaving a lasting contribution to the school environment that can be enjoyed by the whole school community.

Further experiences included a visit to Scolton Manor and Farm for out Harbwr, complete with a picnic, as well as access to drop-in sessions and the school Book Fair. These activities encouraged teamwork, creativity, resilience, problem-solving and independence, whilst providing pupils with opportunities to relax, socialise and enjoy new experiences.

Throughout the week, the atmosphere around the school was one of positivity, excitement and celebration. It was wonderful to see pupils embracing every opportunity, trying new activities and enjoying time with their peers and staff. The laughter, enthusiasm and smiles seen throughout the week were a testament to the success of the programme and the value of providing such enriching experiences.

A huge thank you must go to all members of staff who dedicated their time, energy and commitment to planning, organising and delivering the wide range of activities on offer. Their hard work ensured that Freedom Week was both enjoyable and memorable, providing pupils with an excellent way to end the academic year.

We are incredibly proud of how our pupils conducted themselves throughout the week and hope that the experiences and memories they have gained will stay with them for years to come. Freedom Week was a fitting end to another successful year and a wonderful reminder of the importance of learning, achievement and enjoyment both inside and outside the classroom.
